Since it’s debut in 2020, the ABSS Spring Carnival has surpassed all expectations. Under the keen scrutiny from an experienced Committee, this show gets better each year as it evolves and includes new features. With a program that caters for competitors at every level, regardless of breed, this royal level event is not to be missed.

Carnival Dates

Scheduled to take place on the 22nd – 24th of November 2024, the ABSS Spring Carnival will be held at the Elmore Equestrian Park. This show will feature a large range of Breed classes, Topsy Ring, Open rings, young stock classes and the coveted Twilight Saddle Jubilee. To celebrate “life after racing” we will also showcase Off the Track Thoroughbreds and Standardbreds and have some great, racing-inspired fun.

Fashions on the Field

No Spring Carnival celebration is quite the same without Fashions on the Field. Across the weekend we will feature several opportunities for our fashion conscious competitors, this includes the Thoroughbred and Standardbred sections, as well as part of our Twilight feature event.

Open to all competitors, our feature event will  be an opportunity to show your individual style and flair, under the eye of a special guest judge from Myer. Competitors will complete a workout with their horse and there are lots of great prizes on offer.

Twilight Saddle Jubilee

On Saturday the 23rd of November, we will be offering an elite program, featuring the best of the best. Following on from our Fashions on the Field, Arabian Costumes and Concors d’ Elegance events, the Twilight Saddle Jubilee has amazing prizes on offer and will be conducted under the eye of 3 special guest judges. Riders will be assessed on their overall presentation, ridden workout, conformation and type. With 3 separate Supreme Champion awards on offer, this is one you do not want to miss!

The event will be conducted in the indoor arena and together with food trucks and catering, we hope to bring you an exciting night of competition and atmosphere.

Friday Western and Harness Features

Following on from the success of our harness feature in previous years, we are adding a Western Feature to our Friday program.

We have dedicated two rings to those competing with their ponies and horses in harness, and our extensive program definitely makes polishing those carts and harnesses worth while! We have added a Standardbred Harness points feature and will have a load of great prizes and garlands on offer.

New to the Spring Carnival program is a full day event for Western Breeds and Australian Stock Horses. Under the watchful eyes of a specialist judge, our competitors will vie for belt buckles, jackets and prizes in our Western Halter, Walk / Jog and Ridden Horsemanship features, as well as many Breed Supremes and Open sections. All AQHA competitors collect AQHA B points and AAA & APHA competitors collect A points.

Topsy and Novice Ring

Like all elite sports, the top levels of the equine show scene is not for the faint-hearted! It is a very competitive industry and lots of time, money and effort go into its pursuit.

Here at the ABSS, we understand that not everyone has the desire or expertise to compete at the top level. Getting out and having fun with your equine partner is one of the most satisfying parts of horse ownership and we applaud those who just want to get out and have a go.

If you are just starting out, don’t worry! If you’ve never been to a show or don’t have all the fancy gear, this one’s for you! If you haven’t yet mastered the canter, we got you! Our Sunday program offers classes for those who are new to the show scene. We have included Walk/Trot classes for both children and adults and this ring has lots of amazing prizes

This year’s show will see the return of the very popular Topsy section (including Fancy Dress) and we can’t wait to see what amazing costumes you will come up with this year!
